Who are the Ulu Al-Albab in the Quran and why should you know?
Some concepts are emphasized in the Quran in a way that is unprecedented in other scripture. One of them is Taqwa, a quality possessed by Muttaqin. Another related Quranic concept of great significance is that of Ulu al-Albab, ‘those who possess intellect’.
If we accept Taqwa as a behavioral quality that makes people careful and cautious lest their actions and judgements should go against Divine criteria and norms, that quality needs to be supported and sustained by a cognitive faculty pertaining to the mind and intellect, a quality that marks the Ulu al-Albab, the people of deeper understanding.
