Jihad and Shahadat
The essays presented in this volume are transcriptions of recorded speeches or sermons which the authors delivered from the pulpit. It must be observed that both the pulpit and the traditional schools had been the important weapons against the then regime of Shah in Iran. The material it presents, however can help scholars, media specialists, and interested Muslim and non-Muslim readers to understand one or the most epoch-making phenomena in contemporary history, the Islamic Revolution in Iran. The uniqueness of this phenomenon lies in the fact that it is the only revolution in modern times based not on Marxist or capitalist ideologies, but on a home-grown religious, and significantly Islamic, ideology.
