The Islamic philosophy has attracted the attention of the thinkers and intellectuals all over the world. Not for its being an idiosyncratic philosoophy, but because of its historic relation with dotrines. This book discusses the idea and includes new essays written by well known authors and contains comprehensive thesis about the most important thinkers of the Islamic philosophy. Different authors have been selected to represent the various approaches to the subject-and we should not be taken to share their views and reflect the different tendencies and methods prevalent in the field of Islamic philosophy today. Seiyyed Hossein Nasr was educated at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and at Harvard University. He has taught at a number of Universities in USA and Middle East and is now at the George Washington University. He has written extensively on Islam and philosophy. H/B
