This is the translation of selected parts of the famous Urdu book Tuhfat al-Awwam. It covers a vast range of subjects connected with the essentials of belief and practice, and provides practical guidance on issues and questions of everyday life in the contemporary world.
The book is the 1st of two volumes on the religious practice of the Twelver Shiites. It offers a comprehensive treatment of all aspects of the practical spirituality of this Islamic school in such a way to provide a guide and a reference for those who follow the way of the Twelve Imams ( Peace be upon them) The First volume covers the theology, the ethics, and the law, while this second volume contains a selection of the most widely used items in Shii devotional literature ( duas etc.) The book is based in part on Tuhfatul Awaam (in Urdu) but several other works have also been consulted in particular, Mafatih al Jinan, Hil'liyatul Muttaqin, and Kitab al Aqaid.
